Artist Elizabeth Stefany creates her jewelry at home under the staircase at the back of the pantry in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. She learned the art of silversmithing at summer camp on Sebago Lake at the age of 12, where she began experimenting with jewelry as a hobby. Then in 2006 Elizabeth founded her own company, Carrabassett Valley Jewelry.
Elizabeth's designs are often inspired by the natural world. She is an all-season outdoorswoman, enjoying downhill and telemark skiing, mountain biking, gardening, lacrosse, and sailing, and she's training for her first triathlon. Elizabeth says that she designs jewelry to "appeal to those who enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle."
Her favorite meal is spaghetti with homemade sauce, garlic bread, and milk, followed by homemade vanilla ice cream. Her favorite place to travel to is Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas, French Polynesia. She says, "I'd probably have to detour to Papeete, Tahiti's capital, to buy pearls!"
