About

The European Cut Diamond was the diamond of choice during the turn of the 20th century. In the late 19th century, a diamond cutter named Henry Morse invented a steam-driven bruting machine (bruting is a critical part in the diamond cutting process) that revolutionized the industry. The machine enabled the diamond cutter to shape symmetrical, rounded stones much more easily than could be fashioned with the hand and foot-powered machines. The round, perfectly symmetrical diamond, like this European Cut Diamond, came to exemplify the perfect gem. European Cut Diamonds have a round girdle, large table, high crown, deep geometric pavilion, and open culet.

Gold comes from the pure element Aurum and is caught up in stone deep below the surface of the earth. Ore deposits are formed through the imperceptible, aeonian shifting of the tectonic plates which, over millennia, are brought close enough to the surface for extraction. This process is elaborate and takes time, which means refined gold will always be highly valued, even more so when turned into intentional objects of beauty by the hands of skilled artisans.
