Swarovski crystal is now a world-renowned name that describes a particular kind of glass with a high refractive index – meaning lots of sparkle! Although glass differs in structure from true crystal, the term stuck after the ancient Venetians used the word cristallo to describe the crystalline glass products of the 13th century Murano glassmakers.

It was in the mid-19th century that Daniel Swartz (later Swarovski) was born in Bohemia, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At the time, Bohemia was a European capital for glass and crystal production, and the young Swarovski must have developed an early fascination with the creation of sparkle. He apprenticed with his glass-cutter father, learning the tricks of the trade and developing a passion for the art of transforming the elements that make up glass into dazzling sculptures, home décor, chandeliers – and of course decadent jewelry.

Beth Sturm is a nationally known jewelry designer whose intricate pieces grew out of a life-long passion for beading. Inspired by her mother, Beth began experimenting with jewelry-making when she was six years old. She studied fine art jewelry in California and Kansas, and at the Royal College of Art in London. Beth's designs incorporate the finest quality sterling silver with gem stones and Swarovski crystals to create dazzling jewelry that is timeless in its design and craftmanship.
